Kantipur honours Nepali cricket team

KATHMADU, MAR 27 - Kantipur Media Group (KMG) on Thursdayhonoured the Nepali National Cricket Team with cash prize and certificates for their outstanding performance in their ICC World Twenty-20 debut held at Bangladesh.

Chairman and Managing Director of KMG, Kailash Sirohiya presented a cheque of Rs 1 million to Nepali cricket team captain Paras Khadka at a programme organised at Everest Hotel, Kathmandu on Thursday. All the members of the national cricket team who played in the ICC World T-20 were presented with honour certificates.
KMG had announced the cash prize of Rs 1 million after Nepal defeated Afghanistan in their last match of the preliminary round in the ICC World T-20 played at Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Addressing the programme, Chairman Sirohiya said that all the Nepalis could be proud of the achievement of the Nepali cricket team in their world cup debut. "It is not possible in words to praise the achievement of the cricket team," said Sirohiya, lauding the team's performance, "Keep up your momentum."
Expressing his views after the felicitation, Captain Paras Khadka said the team had received an enormous amount of love from the Nepali supporters. "The amount of love and affection that we have received from the nation is not even possible for a son to receive from his father," said Paras, "Kantipur, in itself is a brand and we are grateful for the honour."
Captain Paras Khadka, players Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Veshwakar, Basanta Regmi, Shakti Gauchan, Sagar Pun, Sompal Kami, Amrit Bhattarai, Binod Bhandari, Pradip Aire, Naresh Bahadur Budhair, Jitendra Mukhiya, Rahul BK, Awinash Karn, Anil Mandal, team coach Puwudu Dasanayake, assistant coach Jagat Tamata and manager Uttam Karmacharya, among others, were felicitated by the KMG.
